Benue State University Student shot dead by Cultist

News from the Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected cultist over the murder of one Mr Oketa Simon who before then was a 300L student of the department of Mass Communication in the university.

The deceased Mr Simon who is also rumored to be a cultist was shot dead and body found in a farm opposite Rahama Clinic in Logo II Makurdi on November 6


The police has since then arrested one 18 year old Samuel Ochoechi a non student as an accomplice to the crime. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have connived with gang members notoriously known as Movement, Viper and Chemical who are all of the Red Confraternity to slay the said Simon who at that time was a member of the Black Confraternity over a dispute of a certain jean trouser.

 Efforts made to apprehend the other said members revealed that the gang member known as Movement who took part in killing Mr Simon was hacked down on November 7 the day after the death of Mr Simon as a retaliation by Mr Simon's confraternity. Movements body was found beside Kyabiz Filling Station Opposite Benue State University second gate



The police said the apprehended suspects would be charged to court as further investigation is carried out.

Students of the university say the school has predominantly been plagued by cult clashes which has seen the school been closed down on some occasions and are calling on the school administration to find a way of hacking down those culpable.
