The Technical and Development Committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Saturday said it has recommended to the federation’s Executive Board a new Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles. A report on the federation’s website quoted Ahmed Yusuf , the Vice-Chairman of the committee, as saying the committee recommended Gernot Rohr , 63 for the position. He said the committee was convinced of the former German defender’s suitability for the job after a long session with him in Abuja on Saturday. The committee was impressed with Rohr’s profile and current activities for the German Football Federation (DFB). A senior United States of America military General wednesday said the Boko Haram terror group had been fractured internally. Lieutenant General Thomas Waldhauser, the nominee to lead the US military Africa Command (AFRICOM), disclosed this in Washington during his nomination hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Waldhauser said the problem in the group resulted from some members splitting from shadowy leader, Abubakar Shekau, over his failure to adhere to guidance from the Iraq and Syria-based Islamic State. This follows the latest decision by world football governing body, FIFA, to alter the seeding for the group draw with Egypt promoted to Pot One, Guinea and Cameroun climbing to Pot Two, while Tunisia, Nigeria and Mali have been demoted to Pot Three. In Pot One are Algeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Egypt; Pot Two contains Tunisia, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea and Cameroun, while Pot Three has Congo Brazzaville, Nigeria, Morocco, Mali and South Africa.
